Union Home Minister Amit Shah has issued a warning that the Congress party will continue to pursue “appeasement politics” if it regains power in Chhattisgarh following the assembly polls scheduled for next month. Shah made these remarks during a rally in Rajnandgaon city, where he accused the Congress government of establishing a “corruption chain” extending up to Delhi, likening it to a food chain of restaurants. He stated that if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) comes to power in Chhattisgarh, they will recover any ill-gotten gains from the corrupt and take strict punitive action.
Shah also discussed the transformation of Chhattisgarh from a “BIMARU” (laggard) state under the Congress rule to a developed state within 15 years after Raman Singh took office as Chief Minister in 2003.
The Home Minister criticized the Bhupesh Baghel government for its handling of communal violence in Biranpur village, Bemetara district, in April. He asked the people whether they wanted Chhattisgarh to once again become a center of communal riots.
The rally was organized before the filing of nomination forms for former Chief Minister Raman Singh and three other BJP candidates in Rajnandgaon. The BJP has nominated Ishwar Sahu, the father of Bhuneshwar Sahu, who was killed in the Biranpur riot, as their candidate for the Saja assembly segment in Bemetara district.
Chhattisgarh will hold its assembly elections in two phases on November 7 and 17, with a total of 90 seats up for grabs.
Pointing to Ishwar Sahu, who was present on the stage, Shah mentioned that Bhuneshwar Sahu was lynched for political gain and appeasement politics. He assured the crowd that justice would be served, and the accused would be brought to justice, highlighting that the BJP has fielded the victim’s father as their candidate.
Shah questioned the people’s desire for Chhattisgarh to once again become a center of communal riots and whether Bhuneshwar Sahu should receive justice. He argued that if the Congress returns to power, they will continue to engage in appeasement politics for the sake of securing votes.
Shah also accused the Congress government of presiding over various “scams” in Chhattisgarh and criticized Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel for converting the state into an “ATM” for Delhi.
He expressed optimism about the upcoming elections and the enthusiastic support of the people, stating that he believes the lotus, the BJP’s symbol, will bloom on December 3, the day of the election results in Chhattisgarh.
Shah concluded by emphasizing that the elections are an opportunity to create a bright future under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
