Imran Khan Accuses Police of Forcing False Confession

Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan made a startling accusation on Thursday, claiming that the police coerced a driver into falsely confessing that he had supplied drugs to Khan. According to Khan, the driver’s family was subjected to harassment and threats by the police to force them into making this false statement, alleging that the driver came to deliver drugs to Khan’s residence.

Taking to Twitter, Imran Khan shared the incident, revealing that he had received a box of shoes from an acquaintance, which was delivered to his home by their driver. However, two days later, the police visited the driver’s house and subjected his impoverished family to intimidation, compelling him to falsely admit to delivering drugs to Khan’s place.

In a dig at the Pakistan government, led by Shehbaz Sharif, Khan suggested that such occurrences are a direct result of criminals running the country. He accused the current federal government of stooping to extreme levels in an attempt to disqualify or imprison him before the upcoming general elections later this year. Khan pointed out that not only does the government appoint incompetent individuals to significant positions, but they also attempt to project their own corruption onto others, displaying their desperation to undermine him.

Imran Khan has been facing over 140 cases throughout the country, ranging from charges of terrorism, violence, blasphemy, corruption, to murder, following his removal from power in April of the previous year after a no-confidence vote in the National Assembly.

He has repeatedly claimed that his ousting was part of a conspiracy led by the United States due to his independent foreign policy decisions involving Russia, China, and Afghanistan.

On the other hand, leaders of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) openly accuse Khan of drug use and assert that he would not be able to survive in jail without them. The Pakistan Interior Minister, Rana Sanaullah, has specifically alleged that Imran Khan fears going to jail because he knows he will not have access to drugs there.
