In an endearing yet amusing incident in China, a little boy from Guang’an, Sichuan province, southwestern China, surprised his nursery school classmate by gifting her gold bars worth $15,000 (approximately ₹12 lakh) as an “engagement” present. The incident unfolded on December 22 when the little girl excitedly shared the extraordinary gift with her parents at home. The revelation left the parents shocked and confused, prompting them to advise their daughter to return the gift to her classmate the next day. The boy’s family, upon being contacted, apologized, explaining that they had informed their son that the gold bars were reserved for his future wife.

”The boy’s parents said they had told their son that the gold bars were intended for his future wife, but they didn’t expect him to secretly take them out and give them to our daughter,” shared the girl’s mother.

Expressing concern, the girl’s mother urged other parents to remain vigilant to prevent similar incidents from happening to their children. The unexpected nature of the “engagement” gift added a touch of humor to the situation, resonating with internet users who found the innocence and spontaneity of the children endearing.

The story quickly became a source of amusement and laughter online, with users celebrating the adorable friendship shared by the two children. Some users also took the opportunity to share similar anecdotes from their own experiences.

One user applauded the little boy’s audacity, commenting, ”This little boy has guts, just casually giving away 200 grams of gold like that.” Another user shared a personal experience, saying, ”My mother-in-law just gave me a bracelet, and my son asked if he could give it to a classmate because he thought it looked nice. I suppose I should be ‘grateful’ he thought to ask me first.”

A third user recounted a similar incident, stating, ”In the first year, my daughter’s classmate, a boy, gave her 200 yuan in cash. I promptly returned the money to the boy’s parents that same evening.”

This incident is not the first of its kind in China. Last year in May, a young boy took a gold bangle belonging to his mother to give as a gift to a girl at his kindergarten. The boy’s mother received a warning from the teacher to “watch out” for her jewelry after her son was caught. When she asked the boy why he took the bangle, he explained that he wanted to give it as a gift to a girl he was friends with at his kindergarten.

The innocence and spontaneity displayed by children in such incidents often bring smiles and laughter, highlighting the pure and unaffected nature of their actions. While the parents involved may be initially surprised or concerned, the stories serve as a reminder of the simple and unfiltered joy that children bring to our lives.

The “engagement” gift of gold bars in China adds a delightful twist to the narrative, emphasizing the endearing nature of childhood friendships and the unintentional humor that often accompanies such innocence. The incident resonates with parents and internet users alike, fostering a sense of joy and laughter amid the unexpected surprises that children bring.
