British Prime Minister’s Diplomatic Efforts: British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak held meetings with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in Cairo on Friday. During these discussions, they reached a consensus on the importance of allowing humanitarian aid to enter Gaza and minimizing civilian casualties in the conflict between Israel and Hamas. This meeting was part of Prime Minister Sunak’s diplomatic tour of the Middle East.

US Aid Package: US President Joe Biden has sought more than $105 billion from Congress as part of a package aimed at delivering security assistance to address the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and Israel, CNN reported. Biden said, “The request will help mitigate the global humanitarian impacts of Russia’s brutal invasion of Ukraine and of Hamas’ horrific attacks on Israel, including by extending humanitarian assistance to civilians in Gaza.”

Saudi Crown Prince’s Call for De-Escalation: In a phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman emphasized the importance of de-escalation in the conflict between Israel and Hamas, as reported by the Saudi state news agency SPA.

UN Secretary-General’s Plea: During a visit to Egypt’s crossing with the Gaza Strip on Friday, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres made a heartfelt plea for the movement of aid trucks into the blockaded enclave. This call came shortly after the US had raised optimism regarding a potential diplomatic breakthrough in the region, Reuters reported.

Repatriation of Nepalese Students’ Remains: An official from the Foreign Ministry announced that the remains of four out of the ten Nepalese students, who tragically lost their lives during an unexpected strike by Hamas at an Israeli Kibbutz farm earlier this month, will be repatriated to Nepal on Sunday. The incident occurred on October 7, resulting in the deaths of ten Nepalese students.

Urgent Plea for Hospital Evacuation: The Palestine Red Crescent Society (RCS) issued an urgent plea on Friday, calling for the immediate evacuation of Al-Quds Hospital in northern Gaza to avert a devastating incident similar to what occurred at Al-Ahli Hospital. This report was covered by The Times of Israel.

Impact on Israel-Saudi Relations: On Friday, US President Joe Biden suggested that he believes the recent brutal attack by Hamas on Israel, which occurred two weeks ago, was intended to disrupt the warming relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia.

President Biden’s Response: The White House clarified that Joe Biden did not catch a reporter’s question regarding whether Israel should postpone a possible ground invasion of Gaza until more hostages could be evacuated. In his response, the President answered “yes.”

Humanitarian Crisis: According to the Palestinian health ministry, a minimum of 4,137 Palestinians, including hundreds of children, have lost their lives, and 13,000 have sustained injuries in Gaza. The release of the American hostages is a significant development in the Israel-Hamas conflict, which has been ongoing for more than two weeks. The diplomatic efforts by world leaders, including British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and US President Joe Biden, reflect the international community’s concern for the humanitarian impact of the conflict. The call for de-escalation and the repatriation of the remains of the Nepalese students further highlight the urgency of the situation. The conflict has resulted in a high number of casualties and displacement, underscoring the need for a peaceful resolution. The coming days will be crucial in determining the trajectory of the conflict and efforts to mitigate its impact.

2nd Flight Safely Evacuates 235 Indian Nationals Amid Israel-Hamas Conflict

As the Israel-Hamas conflict continues, India’s ‘Operation Ajay’ is actively facilitating the evacuation of Indian nationals from Israel. The second flight, carrying 235 Indian nationals, including two infants, safely landed at Delhi Airport on Saturday. This evacuation follows the departure of 212 Indian nationals on the first flight, which left amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas.

India initiated ‘Operation Ajay’ on Thursday, offering a lifeline for those wishing to return home following the recent attacks by Hamas militants on Israeli towns, particularly on October 7.

The second batch of evacuees was successfully transported on Friday, with the Indian Minister of State for External Affairs, Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, present to receive them at the airport.

The flight took off at 11:02 pm local time and is part of a series of evacuation efforts that the Indian government is conducting to ensure the safe return of its citizens.

The Indian Embassy in Israel is actively coordinating these evacuation operations and has reached out to registered Indian citizens for the special flights. This includes emailing the next group of registered individuals who will be evacuated in subsequent flights. The government is covering the costs associated with these evacuation efforts.

The first charter flight for the return of Indian citizens from Israel left late Thursday evening from Ben Gurion Airport, carrying 211 adults and an infant. The flight successfully reached Delhi on Friday morning. Ben Gurion International Airport is Israel’s main international airport, located on the northern outskirts of the city of Lod.

To participate in the evacuation efforts and return to their home country, all Indian nationals need to register on the mission’s database. The Indian embassy in Israel has also established a helpline to assist Indian citizens in need.

It’s estimated that there are approximately 18,000 Indian nationals living and working in Israel, including caregivers, students, IT professionals, and diamond traders. India’s diplomatic efforts and evacuation operations aim to ensure the safety and well-being of its citizens in the midst of the ongoing conflict in the region.

These evacuation missions are part of India’s commitment to protecting and assisting its citizens in times of crisis, reflecting the government’s dedication to their welfare.
