Bittu Bajrangi Speaks Out on Religious Yatra Controversy

The self-proclaimed cow vigilante known as ‘Bittu Bajrangi’ has come forward to defend the presence of weapons during a religious yatra organized by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) in Nuh, Haryana. Speaking exclusively to India Today, Bittu Bajrangi asserted that some participants did carry swords and sticks during the yatra, but he clarified that these weapons were licensed and intended for religious purposes, such as worship and rituals, rather than for any violent or malicious intentions.

The controversy surrounding the use of weapons in the religious procession arose after Gurugram MP Rao Inderjit Singh expressed his concerns about participants carrying swords and sticks. He questioned the necessity of having weapons in a peaceful yatra and held both sides responsible for the series of clashes that occurred in various districts of Haryana.

In response to the criticism, Bittu Bajrangi explained that the yatra is an annual event attended by women, children, and elderly individuals, making it essential to ensure their safety. He expressed fear for the safety of women and children when a group of men attacked them during the yatra. While he acknowledged the presence of some individuals carrying weapons, he emphasized that the swords were used purely for puja and rituals, with no intent to cause harm.

Meanwhile, opposition leaders took the opportunity to condemn the BJP-led Haryana government for the violence in Nuh. Congress MP Randeep Surjewala labeled it as a ‘malice’ of the government, raising questions about their actions during the clashes in Gurugram, Nuh, and Sohna.

BSP chief Mayawati also criticized the government for the failure of law and order in the state, drawing parallels to the situation in Manipur. The communal violence in Nuh district not only affected the immediate area but also spread to neighboring regions like Gurugram, resulting in clashes that led to the death of a cleric and the destruction of a mosque in Sector 57.

As authorities investigate the communal clashes, 116 people have been arrested, and 44 FIRs have been registered in different districts of Haryana. The situation remains under scrutiny as authorities work diligently to restore peace and order in the region.

The presence of weapons during religious processions has sparked heated debates and discussions, and the involvement of prominent political figures and opposition leaders has further intensified the situation. As the investigations continue and efforts are made to prevent further escalation of violence, it is crucial for all parties involved to engage in constructive dialogue and find amicable solutions to restore harmony and peace in the affected areas.

Intelligence Failures and Police Inefficiencies: Haryana Violence

During a recent Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) procession in Nuh, Haryana, violence erupted, leading to the tragic loss of four lives. The clashes that initially started in Nuh soon spread to Gurugram, where incidents of vandalism and unrest were reported. As the investigation into the violence unfolds, probe has shed light on intelligence failures and inadequate police deployment as significant factors contributing to the escalation of the situation.

Nuh District Inspector (CID) Vishvajeet revealed that his department had issued formal warnings to local authorities about the potential for trouble during the VHP’s 130-km Braj Mandal Yatra, especially while passing through Muslim-dominated areas. However, the warnings were seemingly ignored, and the lack of preparedness led to the violent confrontation that ensued.

Adding to the tension was the presence of a notorious cow vigilante, Monu Manesar, who, although advised by the VHP not to participate in the yatra, became the subject of a rumour that triggered the violence. The lack of coordination and communication between authorities and locals further fueled the already volatile situation.

One disturbing aspect of the incident was the rioters’ act of ramming a bus into a cyber police station, which had been actively cracking down on cybercrime in the district. This action caused resentment among the locals and escalated the hostilities.

Moreover, the inadequate deployment of police forces along the yatra route proved detrimental to maintaining order. The available force was thinly spread across the extended route, leaving crucial picket points unattended and falling short of effectively controlling the situation.

As the investigation continues, authorities must take proactive measures to address the intelligence failures and ensure proper police deployment during public events to prevent similar incidents in the future. The clashes serve as a stark reminder of the importance of efficient coordination, vigilance, and communication between law enforcement agencies and local communities to maintain peace and security during such public gatherings. Only through such proactive efforts can authorities hope to avert violence and protect the safety and well-being of all citizens.

Communal Clashes Erupt in Haryana’s Nuh District

In a tragic incident that unfolded in Haryana’s Nuh district, violence erupted when mobs attacked a Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) procession, leading to the deaths of two home guards and injuries to over 15 people, including policemen. The disturbing scene also witnessed the setting ablaze of cars and a shop by a group of young men who barricaded the road for hours. As the situation escalated into communal clashes, authorities were swift to take action. To prevent the spread of tensions, mobile internet services in Nuh district have been temporarily suspended until August 2.

Responding to the crisis, Haryana’s Home Minister Anil Vij stated that additional forces were deployed from neighboring districts, with efforts being made to send reinforcements via helicopter as well. The priority was to maintain peace and protect civilians caught in the crossfire.

During the turmoil, over 2,500 individuals, including women and children, were safely evacuated by the police from the Shiva temple in Nuh. This group comprised both devotees and those seeking refuge at the temple during the confrontations.

In the aftermath of the communal clashes, as a precautionary measure, educational institutions in Gurugram, Faridabad, and Palwal districts were ordered to remain closed on Tuesday. The violence was triggered shortly after the VHP procession began. Around 2 pm, more than 200 people marched from Edward Chowk in Nuh town, only to be met with a barrage of stones from a larger crowd. Initially, the Hindu side retreated, but tensions escalated when they retaliated.

Reports have emerged suggesting that an objectionable video posted on social media by a Bajrang Dal activist in Ballabhgarh might have been the catalyst for the clashes. Additionally, concerns were raised over the supposed participation of Monu Manesar, a cow vigilante previously booked for the murder of two Muslim men. Monu Manesar had received warnings on Twitter urging him not to attend the procession, which he heeded, as advised by the VHP to avoid further tensions. The situation remains tense, and authorities are working diligently to restore calm and diffuse the ongoing crisis.
