    In recent days, theres been much talk about Artificial Intelligence (AI). The trailer and song launch of the first Hindi film on this subject, “IRAH,” took place in Mumbai. The movie features Rohit Bose Roy, Rajesh Sharma, Karishma Kotak, and Rakshith Bhandarry in prominent roles. Produced by Big Films Media and directed by Sam Bhattacharjee, the film is set to release nationwide in theaters on April 4th through Iamplex Digital Theatrical Distribution. Music composer Sameer Sen also graced the event.

     

    The trailer of the film “IRAH” showcases the misuse of AI technology, shedding light on its negative aspects. Rohit Bose Roy is excited about this project, which is releasing on April 4th, just a day before his birthday on April 5th, 2024.

     

    Rohit Bose Roy expressed, “This film is special to me as it marks my portrayal of the central character. Its my first experience working on a film of this genre and almost the entire film was shot using VFX. Many of my scenes involve delivering dialogues in thin air. My characters name is Hari Singh, and if you reverse it, it spells IraH. I developed an app named IraH that can recreate anything. The film revolves around what could happen if this app falls into the wrong hands.”

     

    He further added, “April 5th is my birthday, and releasing the film on April 4th is the best birthday gift from director Sam Bhattacharjee. The film has its backdrop in AI, but it incorporates elements of romance, drama, suspense, and music. The suspense in the film is phenomenal. The shooting experience in London was unforgettable. Karishma Kotak is an excellent actress, and working with her was an amazing experience.”

     

    Director Sam Bhattacharjee stated, “We live in an era of technology. No one fights with guns anymore; instead, they fight with technology. Today, technology and data have become paramount. Our film revolves around the revolution of AI in data usage. I first pitched this idea to Rohit Bose Roy, and Im glad he agreed to play this role. Weve worked on IRAHs VFX for three years.”

    Chandrasekhar expressed his gratitude to cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar for bringing attention to a fake video through a post on X. The Union Minister highlighted that deepfakes and misinformation, when fueled by AI, represent a significant danger, and platforms are obligated to comply with the advisories issued by the government.

     

    In his post on X, Chandrasekhar stated, “Thank you @sachin_rt for this tweet. #DeepFakes and misinformation powered by #AI are a threat to Safety&Trust of Indian users and represent harm & legal violation that platforms have to prevent and take down. Recent Advisory by @GoI_MeitY requires platforms to comply with this 100%. We will be shortly notifying tighter rules under IT Act to ensure compliance by platforms.”

     

    Sachin Tendulkar had earlier cautioned the public about a fake video circulating on social media and urged people to report such misleading content.     “Remember that advertisement is all about making a product or a service unique. Even the best of the software like ChatGPT will never offer that uniqueness. So, do not feel discouraged by them as they often compromise the quality of the advertisements,” said Shri Vikram Sahay, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, while delivering his keynote address at the 19th edition of the Marketing Conclave (MarCon), organised by the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) on November 22, 2023, in Mumbai.

     

    This year MarCon explored, through 30 sessions, across four tracks, the theme of “Tomorrow’s Canvas: Tech and the Art of Marketing”. The conference was co-powered by Whistle Feed. Addressing the conference’s theme topic, Shri Sahay delved into the dynamic intersection of technology and marketing, shedding light on innovative strategies to navigate the evolving landscape of digital advertising.

     

    In his keynote Shri Sahay also dwelt on advertising regulatory practices and underlined the importance of ethical marketing. “Today, we have certain regulatory practices and guidelines that protect us from misleading ads, especially in education and healthcare. We must stay away from such unethical practices,” he said.

     

    MarCon 2023 brought together on one platform more than 65 industry captains and subject stalwarts to explore the theme subject 360 degrees. Over 350+ agencies, 500+ leading brands and 1500 delegates took part in the conference.

The Prime Minister called for a collective understanding of the risks posed by deepfakes and the development of strategies to mitigate their negative impacts.

     

    “We must understand the dangers posed by deepfakes to society and individuals,” Modi asserted, drawing attention to the challenges posed by the proliferation of misleading and fraudulent content created through AI techniques.

    India’s Retirement System Shows Improvement in CFA Institute

    India’s retirement system has shown improvement in the 2023 Mercer CFA Institute Global Pension Index (MCGPI). The survey evaluates retirement income systems worldwide, and the recent results indicate that India’s overall index value increased from 44.5 in 2022 to 45.9 in 2023. This improvement has elevated India to the 45th position out of 47 analyzed retirement income systems. The primary drivers of this improvement are enhancements in the adequacy and sustainability sub-indices.

     

    India’s retirement income system comprises various components, including an earnings-related employee pension scheme, a defined contribution (DC) employee provident fund (EPFO), and predominantly DC-based supplementary employer-managed pension schemes. Additionally, government initiatives are part of a universal social security program intended to benefit the unorganized sector.

     

    Preeti Chandrashekhar, India Business Leader at Mercer – Health and Wealth, emphasized the evolving landscape of retirement systems in India. She highlighted improvements in the net pension replacement rate and participation in private pension plans as factors contributing to India’s higher index value. However, she also pointed out that the coverage of the Indian workforce under private pension plans remains low, at just 6%. She emphasized the need for a Social Security System that increases coverage for the unorganized workforce and the self-employed, which would further enhance the system’s effectiveness.

     

    Chandrashekhar noted the government’s focus on transforming India into a fully pensionable society and outlined the measures being undertaken to achieve this goal. Encouraging greater participation in private pensions can lead to increased private savings. Chandrashekhar also highlighted the importance of funding gratuity plans and enhancing communication to members, which can contribute to improved governance and the overall index value.

     

    Artificial intelligence (AI) is emerging as a critical tool in pension reform and retirement planning. As India’s elderly population is expected to double by 2050, AI can play a pivotal role in data analysis, scenario planning, and effective communication to manage the retirement transition. Arati Porwal, Country Head-India at CFA Institute, stressed the potential of AI to empower plan fiduciaries and enhance decision-making for more engaged participants, ultimately improving retirement financial security.

     

    While AI holds substantial promise for pension systems, the report acknowledges the inherent risks, including modeling complexities, ethical considerations, data privacy, and cybersecurity. Robust governance and accountability for AI models are essential to mitigate biases and maintain trust within pension systems.

     

    The Mercer CFA Institute Global Pension Index report reveals that the Netherlands secured the top position, followed by Iceland and Denmark, while Argentina recorded the lowest index value. The index consists of sub-indices covering adequacy, sustainability, and integrity. Portugal leads in adequacy, Iceland in sustainability, and Finland in integrity. The report highlights the impact of declining birth rates on various economies and pension systems, emphasizing the importance of reforms and sustainability in addressing these challenges. Several Asian systems have undergone reforms aimed at improving their scores and long-term sustainability.
