However, while the movie’s performance over the weekend showed promise, Monday witnessed a significant drop in numbers, with earnings falling to ₹3.75 crore.
Despite the Monday slump, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya managed to pull in impressive numbers over the weekend. The film opened to a decent start, collecting ₹6.50 crore on its first day. This was followed by a notable jump on Saturday, with earnings of ₹9.65 crore, marking a 44.03% increase from the previous day. Sunday saw further growth, with the movie raking in ₹10.75 crore, representing an 11.40% surge in collections.
In total, the film has amassed a net collection of ₹30.85 crore in the domestic market, with the gross collection standing at ₹32.5 crore. Additionally, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya has performed well internationally, with an overseas collection of ₹20 crore, bringing its total earnings to ₹52.5 crore.
Despite its commercial success, the film has received mixed reviews from critics. While some viewers have praised its unique concept and engaging storyline, others have criticized its execution and lack of substance. Monika Rawal Kukreja of Hindustan Times remarked, “Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya puts all other futuristic films and shows to shame… If it’s a comedy, where are the jokes? If it’s a romantic tale, where’s the romance? If it’s a sci-fi movie made for kids, where is the science in it?”
Similarly, Anuj Kumar of The Hindu stated, “Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon submit themselves to a fantastic idea that doesn’t quite reach its potential… but provides moments of harmless fun as it probes the state of affairs in modern-day romance.” On the other hand, Saibal Chatterjee of NDTV criticized the film, calling it “hollow prattle and no real substance… two and a half hours of cinematic profligacy.”
Despite the mixed reviews, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya has a unique advantage in the market. As the only romantic feel-good movie released during Valentine’s week, it has attracted audiences looking for a light-hearted romantic story. This advantage has become even more significant with the underperformance of other recent releases, such as Fighter, starring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone.
Looking ahead, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya is set to face competition from upcoming releases, including Vidyut Jammwal’s Crakk and Yami Gautam’s Article 370, both scheduled to hit screens on February 23. However, if the film manages to capitalize on the Valentine’s Day boost and maintain its momentum, it is likely to continue its successful run at the box office.
