The incident occurred in a service apartment at Candolim in North Goa between January 6 and 8, according to police reports.

The woman had checked into the service apartment with her son on January 6, staying for two days. However, on January 8, she left for Bengaluru in a taxi. The alarming discovery came when apartment staff, cleaning the room in which Seth had stayed, found blood stains on a towel. • Karnataka Chief Minister Suspends Officials After Godown Fire

Karnataka Chief Minister Suspends Officials After Godown Fire

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has taken swift action following a devastating cracker godown fire in Attibele, Bengaluru Urban district, which resulted in the loss of 14 lives. The incident, which has revealed significant safety lapses and violations, prompted the Chief Minister to suspend several officials and address regulatory concerns.

Siddaramaiah announced the suspension of Anekal Tahsildar, the jurisdictional police inspector, and the regional fire officer in response to the tragedy. Additionally, notices were issued to the Deputy Commissioner of Bengaluru Urban district, who had granted the license to the cracker shop owner, and the Superintendent of Police, seeking explanations regarding the incident. The Chief Minister emphasized that the shopkeeper held a license to sell crackers and not to store them in a godown. The godown contained 7,000 to 8,000 kilograms of crackers, which had been brought from Tamil Nadu.

The day of the incident, a truckload of crackers arrived at the location, and people from Tamil Nadu, many of whom were underprivileged students, were unloading the stock. These individuals were reportedly paid ₹600 per day for their labor.

Siddaramaiah expressed his concern about the various lapses that contributed to the tragedy, including oversight by the Tahsildar, police inspector, and fire officer. He stressed the need for immediate suspensions and accountability.

Citing Supreme Court guidelines on the use of “green crackers,” the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of taking action against those who fail to adhere to these regulations. Siddaramaiah directed all relevant authorities to ensure that the provisions of the Explosives Act and the Supreme Court’s guidelines on the use of green crackers are strictly followed.

These directives are particularly crucial as the upcoming Diwali festival often sees an increase in incidents where people suffer burns, injuries, loss of body parts, eye injuries, and, in some cases, fatalities due to firecracker-related accidents.

In light of the tragic incident and the safety concerns it raised, Siddaramaiah ordered that cracker licenses should only be renewed on an annual basis, rather than the previous five-year duration. This move is aimed at increasing vigilance and regulatory oversight in the sale and storage of crackers to enhance public safety.

In addition to the suspensions and regulatory adjustments, the Chief Minister instructed officials to ban the use of crackers during political events, processions, marriages, and Ganesha festivals. This measure is intended to further protect public safety during gatherings and events.

The state government has already announced a compensation of ₹5 lakh for each family of the deceased victims and is providing free medical treatment to the four individuals who sustained injuries in the hospital.

The tragic incident involving the cracker godown-cum-shop in Attibele has exposed a range of safety issues, including improper licensing, storage, and labor practices. The government’s swift response underscores the seriousness of these lapses and the commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of citizens, particularly during festival seasons when firecrackers are widely used.

  • Israel : Tragedy at the Tribe of Nova Music Festival

Israel : Tragedy at the Tribe of Nova Music Festival

Under the night sky in southern Israel near the Gaza border, thousands of young men and women gathered at the Tribe of Nova Music Festival, seeking an escape from reality. The festival brought together party-goers of all ages, and as the bass-heavy beats thumped through the air, they danced with abandon, enjoying the moment. However, their joy was abruptly shattered as air raid sirens pierced the music, and rockets streaked across the sky, as reported by AP.

Maya Alper, among the festival attendees in Israel, stood near the bar alongside environmentally conscious volunteers. They were diligently cleaning up trash and offering complimentary vodka shots to those who reused their cups. But the tranquility was short-lived. Shortly after 6 a.m., as the dawn broke, the festival was disrupted by a horrifying turn of events.

As the festival-goers at Israel attempted to flee, they were met with distressing scenes. Panicked individuals implored drivers to reverse their course, their faces reflecting shock and fear. Gunshots rang out, and the situation quickly descended into chaos.

The attack during Saturday’s open-air festival has now been labeled as the most devastating civilian tragedy in Israeli history, with a staggering death toll of at least 260 people. Additionally, an unknown number of festival-goers have been taken hostage in the aftermath of the assault.

The perpetrators behind this heinous act were dozens of Hamas militants who breached Israel’s heavily fortified separation barrier, infiltrating the country from Gaza. They indiscriminately opened fire on approximately 3,500 young Israelis who had gathered to celebrate the Jewish holiday of Sukkot with a night of electronic music and joy.

The chaos and terror were exacerbated by the fact that some festival attendees were under the influence of alcohol or drugs, making it even more challenging for them to navigate the dire situation.

Videos and survivor accounts provide a harrowing picture of the incident. Militants descended upon the festival site, strategically positioning themselves near bomb shelters and mercilessly targeting those seeking safety. They arrived in trucks and on motorcycles, heavily armed with weapons, including AK-47 assault rifles and rocket-propelled grenades.

Disturbing footage reveals armed assailants infiltrating the crowd, opening fire with automatic weapons, and gunning down fleeing festival-goers, many of whom were shot in the back as they tried to escape.

As if the tragedy at the festival wasn’t enough, Hamas militants also targeted Israeli communities on both sides of the festival grounds, abducting numerous men, women, and children, including elderly and disabled individuals. The scope of violence was shocking and unprecedented.

By Monday, the extent of the tragedy became increasingly evident. Israel’s rescue service, Zaka, reported that they had already retrieved a minimum of 260 bodies from the scene. Organizers of the festival were collaborating with Israeli security forces to locate attendees who were still unaccounted for, and the grim casualty count may rise as teams continue their efforts.

Amid the chaos, Maya Alper acted swiftly, rescuing festival-goers from the street and driving them away from danger. However, they encountered a traffic jam as they reached the road and parking area where their vehicles were stationed, leaving them vulnerable to militant attacks.

In a terrifying turn of events, Alper and her companions found themselves hiding in a thicket of shrubs, trying to evade the militants who were firing indiscriminately. They endured over six hours without any support or intervention from the Israeli military. The militants continued their onslaught, firing automatic weapons and grenades, creating a terrifying and perilous situation.

Alper, a trained Israeli army tank instructor, focused on her breath and meditation to stay calm amidst the chaos. When she heard the distinctive sound of an Israeli army tank round, she called out for help, and soldiers came to her rescue, extracting her from the thicket.

Tragically, she discovered the lifeless body of one of her friends, and another individual who had been in her car was missing, likely abducted by Hamas militants.

Currently, the whereabouts of Alper and others are still unknown, with reports suggesting that Hamas has taken control of more than 100 Israeli hostages. The situation remains dire, with Hamas issuing a disturbing warning that they would begin executing these captives if Israel conducted bombings in Palestinian territories without prior notice.

As the investigation progresses, the police will likely interview witnesses, gather evidence, and attempt to establish a clear timeline of events leading up to the tragic incident. The accused woman named in the suicide note will also be located and questioned as part of the investigation.

Cases of suicide are deeply distressing, and it is crucial to handle them with sensitivity while ensuring a thorough and impartial investigation. The findings of the investigation will play a crucial role in determining any legal actions and accountability in this tragic case.

They were engaged and had plans to get married after reaching Nairobi, where they had been residing with their families. Tragedy Strikes: Shipwreck Claims Lives in Central Mediterranean

In a tragic incident that highlights the ongoing migrant crisis, a shipwreck in the central Mediterranean has resulted in the loss of 41 lives. According to a report by Reuters, Italian authorities confirmed the grim toll on Wednesday. The ill-fated boat, reportedly carrying 45 people, encountered disaster last week.

The survivors of the shipwreck of Central Mediterranean, numbering 4 individuals, were brought to the island of Lampedusa for medical assistance. An investigation into the incident has been initiated by the local public prosecutor’s office under Salvatore Vella.

Italian news agency Ansa, citing the survivors, revealed that the 7-meter-long boat set sail from Sfax in Tunisia on a Thursday morning. Tragically, within hours, the boat capsized and sank after being hit by a powerful wave. The Sea-Watch charity rescue group reported that their surveillance plane spotted the survivors being rescued by a cargo ship. Following the rescue, they were transferred to an Italian coast guard vessel and eventually disembarked in Lampedusa.

In a statement, Sea-Watch detailed the harrowing experience of the survivors, mentioning that they were among the few aboard the sunken boat who had life jackets. After the shipwreck, they remained in the water until they found another empty boat.

The survivors, arriving in Lampedusa exhausted and traumatized, are set to be questioned by the police. The tragedy underscores the persisting challenges of the migrant crisis. Maharashtra Landslide: 22 Confirmed Dead, 86 Still Missing

The search and rescue operation at Irshalwadi village in Maharashtra Landslide in Raigad district, where a devastating incident resulted in the loss of at least 22 lives, entered its third day on Saturday as 86 villagers remain unaccounted for, according to officials.

The tragic landslide occurred on Wednesday night in the tribal village, which is situated on a hill slope under Khalapur tehsil, approximately 80 km from Mumbai. The death toll, which was 16 on Thursday evening, increased to 22 on Friday as six more bodies were recovered. Among the deceased were nine men, nine women, and four children, including nine members of a single family.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and other government agencies resumed the search and rescue operation on Saturday morning after it was suspended on Friday evening due to heavy rains. Four NDRF teams and other agencies are involved in the efforts. At least 17 out of 48 houses in the village were either fully or partially buried under the debris of the landslide.

The Raigad district disaster management office reported that out of 229 village residents, 22 were confirmed dead, 10 were injured, 111 were safe, and 86 individuals were still unaccounted for. Some of the missing villagers had left the village to attend a wedding, while others were engaged in rice plantation work at the time of the tragic incident.

The victims recovered on Friday included three men, three women, and four children aged between six months and four years. Among the deceased were a three-year-old boy and his six-month-old sister, who were part of the nine members of one family who tragically lost their lives.

Due to the lack of a proper road in the village, earth movers and excavators are unable to reach the location, and the rescue operation is being carried out manually. The village, which is overlooked by Irshalgad fort, a popular trekking destination, has faced immense challenges in the aftermath of the disaster.

As a response to the tragic landslide, the Maharashtra government has made the decision to relocate residents from all landslide-prone areas in the state to safer locations, as announced by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in the state legislative assembly on Friday. Irshalwadi hamlet was not previously identified as a landslide-prone area. It is a somber reminder of the 2021 landslide incident at Taliye village in Mahad tehsil of Raigad district, which claimed the lives of 87 people.
