Horace Luke, Founder and CEO of Gogoro, emphasized the importance of accelerating India’s shift towards electric urban fleets. He highlighted that partnering with Swiggy, a major player in the industry, will be instrumental in successfully transforming India’s delivery operations into a more sustainable and efficient model. Mihir Shah, Head of Operations at Swiggy, expressed the company’s commitment to creating eco-friendly and cost-effective solutions for their delivery fleet. He emphasized the significance of Gogoro’s battery swapping technology in offering a practical and scalable approach to electric refueling. This technology has already demonstrated success on a large scale for last-mile delivery, aligning with Swiggy’s vision of improving sustainability and efficiency in hyperlocal deliveries.

Swiggy had previously announced plans to cover 8 lakh kilometers daily through electric vehicle (EV) deliveries in 2021. The company has been proactive in adopting electric vehicles for last-mile delivery, partnering with industry leaders like Reliance BP Mobility Limited and Hero Lectro. This transition to EVs has resulted in substantial cost savings for delivery partners and positively impacted their earnings.

The partnership between Gogoro and Swiggy addresses the specific needs of last-mile delivery fleets, providing a sustainable alternative to traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. Gogoro’s advanced battery swapping system offers an efficient solution for managing delivery fleets, enabling operators to enhance their efficiency and sustainability.

By collaborating with Swiggy, Gogoro aims to contribute to the ongoing transformation of India’s delivery ecosystem, supporting the adoption of electric vehicles and sustainable practices in the hyperlocal delivery sector.
