Another legend narrates the story of King Yashovarma, who prayed to Lord Surya for a son. Upon performing Ratha Saptami pooja as advised by a saint, the king’s son recovered from illness, and he went on to rule the kingdom.
Ratha Saptami holds significant cultural and spiritual significance. It is believed that on this day, Lord Surya begins his journey towards the northern hemisphere, riding a chariot drawn by seven horses. Hence, the festival is also known as Surya Jayanti, celebrating the birth of Lord Surya.

Additionally, it is customary to donate clothes and food to the poor, pray for longevity, prosperity, and good health.
